2 square/4 Square
Grade Level: 1-12
Equipment: Playground Balls
Skill: Hitting objects (ball) with hands)
4 square is a wonderful activity to do, where there is very little down time and the students love to play during recess(wellness). 4 Students play at a time. Each square has a different name. Most players use King, Queen, Jack, and Ace. King square is the service square and Ace is where a new player enters when someone is put out. King serves the ball by dropping into their own square and using one or 2 hands hits the ball into any of the other 3 squares. If the ball enters your square then you must let it bounce once and hit it into another square. If the ball bounces twice then that player is out. If a player hits the ball and it hits the inside line, goes out of the court, or hits in their own square they are out. If a ball hits the outside lines the ball is still in play. If a player hits a ball before it hits inside of their square then they are out. If a player gets put out, then then player in the lower square takes their place and the player waiting to join enters in the Ace square.
